On Saturday, October 26th, 2019 we gathered to celebrate our 150 years of worship in Huntsville. Trinity's Transition Team did the organizing and Council Chair Julie Brushey hosted the evening, with Reverend Derek Shelly offering a toast, Nadya Tarasoff and Kim Lambert a blessing of our meal (see below) and Reverend Murray Rounding a benediction. An Archival display showed Trinity's past and a beautiful dragonfly banner (Lynn Griffin's) shared our hope for the future. The Family Place Restaurant catered the delicious roast beef dinner. We are the United Church. As such, we welcome diverse approaches to the one Ultimate and Eternal Creative force. Therefore, however we define it and in whichever way we feel comfortable, we ask that we all link our hearts and minds to this Ultimate Reality as we express our gratitude. We turn to you, our God and our Creator, and we are mindful of your presence with us. We remember, with gratitude, all those men, women and children who, with your guidance, created and built this church community. During these past 150 years, your Abiding Spirit has guided this church to be a Spiritual and communal focal point for our community. We very much continue to look for and depend upon you, Everlasting Creator, to help us to continue to work for love, justice and peace. We are grateful, Eternal Spirit, for the love shown by those who have gone before us. We are grateful for the work they have done. We are especially appreciative for the strength and work of our women. Be with us as we journey forward. Give us courage, Strength and wisdom to meet the challenges that we face. Help us to build on the foundation laid by those who have gone before us and help us to realize their dreams. Bless this food and this fellowship as we go forward... in Jesus' name, we pray. Amen |
