On Sunday, May 27th, following Derek's final, very packed worship service, a special celebration was held in honor of his retirement. A luncheon was served and cake was cut for the many family and friends who gathered in Trinity Hall to wish him well. The presentations took the humorous form of Derek choosing the 'door'. Special art work, a quilted banner, a choir 'flash mob' and hand-moulded figurine of 'yours-truly', a hug shawl along with comments from Hospice, emails, memories of Derek's hiring 15 years ago, a hand-made card from the Trinity Kids and a special 'envelope' from the congregation and friends, were all part of the get-together. Kind words were shared and well wishes expressed to Trinity's retiring minister. (Click on the pictures to enlarge!)
In celebration of the upcoming Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan, a Royal Tea was held at Trinity with all the frills, beautiful flowers, silver tea service, special hats and fascinators, and lots of guests! Rob Attfield provided music, and dainty sandwiches, tea and delicious desserts were served. Rev Derek offered a toast to the upcoming wedding couple. Everyone enjoyed the celebration and appreciated the efforts of the organizers. Well done!
