 Break out the ice cream and the fireworks! It's the first official day of summer and the longest day of the year! Happy Summer! Summer solstice here in the Western hemisphere sees the sun reach its highest position in the sky. Today we are celebrating the power and the energy of the sun- flowers are blooming, crops are growing and life in creation and yes, even in us, has returned. In many cultures Summer Solstice is a significant time of year marked by festivals and rituals. As the temperature continues to creep up, perhaps we can mark this day with a cold drink, some freshly cut flowers or a warm salutation of "Happy Summer!" to all you meet. Feel free to include dancing, clapping ,music or even a drum circle as we enjoy the life giving power of the sun! Rev. D
